Open Standing MRI Scanner in Gurgaon
Open Standing MRI Scanner in Gurgaon
Patients who suffer from claustrophobia, who are unable to lie down owing to pain, or whose size precludes them from being evaluated in a conventional MRI scanner have another option available to them in the form of an open upright MRI scanner. You are free to stand or sit during the scan, and your view ahead will not be hindered in any way; in the majority of scans, you are even allowed to watch television.
The Benefits of Utilizing a Standing MRI
This brand-new open-standing MRI machine is a game-changing platform for musculoskeletal applications including the spine, which gives surgeons access to a one-of-a-kind extra diagnostic component.
Due to the fact that the patient puts very little weight on their lower limbs when they are lying down, a normal MRI scan is unable to identify certain critical issues and deviations. A true weight-bearing examination, which had not been achievable in the past and was one of the most difficult problems for MRI, is now possible thanks to new technologies.
Scanning while the patient is standing, the technology also helps doctors figure out how the joints are aligned and if the condition will get worse. Also, the machine is open, which makes it best for people who are afraid of being closed in (fear of small closed-in spaces).
This machine, the standing MRI, can be tilted in different ways, such as 45 degrees, 90 degrees, etc. It uses the principle of gravity to help diagnose spinal diseases and musculoskeletal disorders, such as joint pain, in patients.
The open-standing MRI machine would also be a very important diagnostic tool for people who still have back pain after spine surgery. This is because it can figure out how the weight of the patient affects the curvature of the spine, which is something that regular MRI machines can’t do.
With this scan, patients can now get accurate spine surgery. This is because the surgeons would be able to see the extent and type of injury, as well as the effect of gravity, which would give them a better idea of how to fix it.
What You Absolutely Must Be Aware Of
During the course of the assessment, we will make every effort to ensure that you do not experience any discomfort. Our objective is to obtain high-quality photos on the first try and provide your doctors with the information they require to make decisions regarding your care.
Our knowledgeable and compassionate technicians will walk you through each stage of the examination with spoken instructions. They will check in on you on a frequent basis to ensure that you are doing well.
During the course of your examination, you will be provided with a squeeze bulb that will allow you to speak with the technician.
Because MRI machines can be quite loud, you may be given earplugs or headphones to wear in order to help filter out the sound.
The scanning room is kept at a comfortable temperature for the MRI machine, however, if you feel chilly, we have blankets available for you.
Inform the technologist as soon as possible if you experience any discomfort during your examination.
What happens before the MRI Scan
Before your scheduled appointment, we will give you a call to go over any preparation instructions and previous imaging tests that you may have had.
In the event that your test requires comparison, we will go over any additional criteria with you.
Make sure you let us know if you are pregnant, nursing, or if there is a possibility that you could be pregnant if you are not already.
On the day of your scan, you are asked to check in 15 minutes early. Please be on time. Please bring any previous imaging results with you if you have been instructed to do so.
During MRI
When you get there, you’ll be shown to a room where you can change and given a pair of scrubs to wear to your exam. You will be given a locker where you can keep your clothes and anything else you might need during your test.
The technologist will help you get comfortable on a table with cushions. Depending on what part of your body is being scanned, your position and how much of your body will be inside the MRI will change.
A device called a “coil” is often put around the part of the body that needs to be scanned. The coil works like an antenna to help take clear pictures of your body.
You will be given earplugs or headphones and a blanket to make you feel better.
Once you are in the right place, the technologist will leave the room and run the scanner from a computer right next to the scanner suite, which you can see through the viewing window. During the test, the technologist will talk to you and check to see how you are doing.
When the scan starts, the table you’re on will move into the scanner so the technologist can take pictures. During this part of the exam, it’s important to lie as still as possible so we can get clear pictures. For a few minutes at a time, you will hear “knocking” or “buzzing” sounds.
MRI contrast is a special dye that helps show off your anatomy. It may be needed, depending on what part of the body is being scanned. Before your test, an IV will be put in your hand or arm to give you the contrast.
After MRI Scan
After your scan is over, you will be taken back to the changing room where you can remove the scrubs and change back into the clothes you were wearing before the scan.
Your appointment will be over as soon as you have finished changing. It is not necessary for you to check out with the front desk before leaving the hotel.
Following the completion of the exam, your images will be transmitted digitally to a radiologist, who will then examine the data and issue a report to the healthcare professional who referred you. This process normally takes between one and two business days.
You are strongly encouraged to follow up with the practitioner who referred you in order to discuss your results.
